Neon & Mega Neon Pets: How They Work and What They’re Worth
If you’ve ever wondered why the same pet can be worth a little or a lot depending on whether it glows, the answer is Neon and Mega Neon. These special versions are a huge part of Adopt Me’s trading economy, and understanding them is essential if you want to trade well.
What is a Neon pet?
A Neon pet is a glowing version of a regular pet, created by combining four full-grown pets of the same type in the Neon Cave. The catch is the work involved: each of those four pets has to be raised from newborn all the way to full-grown by completing tasks. Ageing four pets takes real time and effort — and that effort is exactly why Neon pets are worth more than a single regular pet.
What is a Mega Neon pet?
A Mega Neon is the next level up. To make one, you combine four full-grown Neon pets — which means you needed sixteen original pets raised to full growth, then each set turned into a Neon, then those four Neons aged to full growth again before the final combine. That’s an enormous amount of effort, so Mega Neons are much rarer and considerably more valuable than both regular and Neon versions. A Mega Neon also cycles through different colours.
Why variant has such a big effect on value
The reason is simple supply and demand. A regular pet takes one pet’s worth of effort; a Neon takes four pets plus the time to age them all; a Mega Neon takes sixteen pets plus two full rounds of ageing. Each step multiplies the work, so each step multiplies the rarity — and value follows rarity. This is why our value list shows separate values for regular, Neon, and Mega Neon versions of the same pet.
A real trading trap to avoid
Because the visual difference can be subtle in a busy trade window, scammers sometimes swap a Mega Neon for a Neon, or a Neon for a regular, hoping you won’t notice. Always confirm the exact variant of every pet before you accept, and re-check the window right before your final confirm.
How Fly and Ride potions fit in
On top of the Neon tiers, pets can also have Fly and Ride potions applied. A Fly (F) pet can fly, a Ride (R) pet can be ridden, a Fly Ride (FR) pet has both and is the most valuable potion combination, and a pet with neither is called No Potion (NP). Potions stack with variant, so the most valuable form of any pet is typically a Mega Neon Fly Ride, and the least valuable is a regular No Potion.
Should you make Neons yourself or trade for them?
Both are valid strategies. Making your own is cheaper in pets but expensive in time — a great way to turn lots of low-value commons into something worth more. Trading for one saves you the grind but costs more value. Many traders do both: grind Neons of cheaper pets to build up value, then trade up toward the grails they actually want.
